Ok so I have stopped making jewellery and I am now making fabric, polymer clay and papier mache pictures ... and yes, I will post pictures soon :)

Oh, I made this recently .. a store bought pencil box which I painted and distressed and then I created the bead and ribbonwork for the top.  It is now living in New York ... :)

I think I will stop making jewellery ...

So tell me what this means - for over 25 years I have been making jewellery.  I can sell to Europe and the US but I can't sell to wearers in the UK.  No one wants to wear a stunningly beautiful beaded cuff or a lace and beads necklace/collar here.  I also sell cabochons and 90% of my sales go overseas.  I do sell cabochons to UK beaders but these wonderful and exciting jewellery designers are so few and far between that I can name them!  You know who you are and I LOVE you!  Thank you for being my customers xxxxx

I will still be designing and making but not jewellery - I am going to concentrate on my art.  Art?  Well, fabric and bead art .. I guess that will go abroad too.  Someone. PLEASE tell me why the UK buyer doesn't want to wear anything "different".  I have given it a damn good try .. 25 years of trying ... it just doesn't happen here.  Very sad ...

Big Phew!

I dithered - I debated - I dawdled and then I did it. What did I do?  I changed stock from one website to another! Phew, it was mind bending because there was so much to remember each time, but I got there eventually.

I have http://www.rosebudlia.co.uk/ and this is where I am (I am very proud to say) known for being the best and largest supplier of vintage plastic cabochons.  If you bead around cabochons, then Rosebudlia.co.uk is THE place to go.  But, mixed in with this site I had jewellery I had made, findings which other sellers can easily sell and other bits and bobs. I decided to take the plunge and open up another Etsy store and put all the jewellery there. (And yes, I have an existing Etsy store which you can see HERE).

I opened up SusanRoseDesigns and here I put all the jewellery I have made which, of course, is for sale.  If you haven't tried Etsy, do so, it's possibly the best thing since ..... the invention of the home computer!

Anyway, all the jewellery I make is now on Etsy.  But about my jewellery, I describe it this way ...

My jewellery is created for those who love originality and my unique designs often challenge a wearer's comfort zone. I mix steampunk with woven beadwork, whilst also mixing beaded fabrics with polymer clay. I like to push boundaries, contrast textures and overlap styles. I also source designs from cross-cultural influences, i.e., Renaissance and Art Nouveau. I don't have a plan when I start making individual items of jewellery, the inspiration simply grows one cabochon and one stitch at a time.
I try to extend the parameters of jewellery design with innovative, ground-breaking and bold creations. My ambition is to broaden the horizons of the jewellery-making and wearing fraternity, and show that in an ever-expanding world of colour and design, there is room for today’s woman to carry off bold design and mixed media jewellery with confidence, style and panache.

If you love fabric jewellery, if you love to be different, just jave a look, hopefully you will be pleased you did .. SusanRoseDesigns

If you make anything ... anything at all ... sell on Etsy, it's the best!

beads, Cabochons and Lovely Gorgeous Fabric

I can't stop, I admit it, I am addicted to sewing and creating wearable magicness!  I have made cuffs, I have more to make ... more fabrics on my work table ... more lace to cut ... more beads to arrange ... more cabochons to set and more bits and bobs to sew on .... I love .... cuffs .....

Another moment of Inspiration

I am making cabochon and lace cuffs at present and I wanted a fabric rose on one of the cuffs.  So, I play around with some of my fabrics and I came up with a few to be working with.  They are great fun to make but you do need a wax gun in my opinion.  Be careful, it will be very hot so don't leave children unattended if they are helping you.
Here is what I have made so far:

I have decided to have a beading competition!

BEADING COMPETITION!

I was thinking about beading something with baby blue, pink and cream beads - and then I had the idea for a competition. At the bottom of this piece is the link to my facebook "Rosebudlia Cabochons" page.  All you have to do is click "like" at the top of the page (this way I have your name so when I announce the winner and it's you, you get notified via facebook).

What do you have to do?  Well, it's simple pimple, bead something beautifully in pink, blue and cream seed beads.  You might want to beadweave a necklace, or make a bracelet using a cabochon ... you might even want to make a little trinket box to hold your favourite ring, or an amulet, or  ......  as long as your item is beaded with the three colours and seed beads are the main beads used, you could be a winner!

So what is the prize? I sell cabochons so I have gadzillions of the little beauties.  I will send the winner, 50, yes FIFTY cabochons of assorted sizes.  I promise you, they will be beautiful!

How is the competition judged?  I am in two minds.  I was thinking of letting my dog randomly choose the winner (all names will be on pieces of paper on the floor) or I might get my friend and neighbour Theresa to put her hand in a box full of names.

How do you know this is genuine? I will film the event and will post it here and on my facebook page.

How long have you got?  The winner will be chosen on November 4th so you have a month (at the time of writing this) to complete your chosen piece.

How do you present your finished piece?  Post you picture(s) on the Rosebudlia Cabochons facebook page and with it say BEADING COMPETITION and then add your name.  I will have to be able to contact you (if you win) for your home address so make sure you keep an eye open for emails from me and to keep looking on the Rosebudlia Cabochons page.

As an additional thank you for entering the competition, I would like to take all of your pictures and add them to my site http://www.rosebudlia.co.uk/  with a link BACK TO YOUR SITE! Therefore, please make sure that when you post your pictures on my rosebudlia cabochons facebook page, your picture has your name on it (or business name) and when you write your comments accompanying your picture, don't forget to let me know the web address to link back to. Thank you!

Good Luck!!!

Please contact me via my website http://www.rosebudlia.co.uk/ if you have any questions.

Thank goodness for my 15 year old neighbour!!

Last night I was attempting to get my head round what was to me, a complicated beading stitch which was a brick stitch with a bit added.  Could I do it?  No I could not.  I had been trying do to this for the past week but last night I lost the plot and so I took everything over to my friend's house and I showed the instructions (in a book) to her son.  Joshua is 15 and can do anything with computers and mobile phones so it seemed logical to me that he would solve my problem.  And he did.  We were kneeling together on the floor and I was following his hands as he stitched each bead to the other. (I'm 56 and I got stuck there on the floor with joint stiffness but a few more evening promrose pills and I'll be right as rain in no time lol).

As soon as I see somebody do something I understand the procedure - but to follow instructions from a book is quite impossible. It reminded me of my childhood when my parents would moan in frustration because I couldn't do a homework project. Why couldn't they see I was a visual follower and not a brainiac?

Anyway, I have now learned the procedure and all being well and my memory doesn't fail me, I will make a necklace and bracelet set - and I'll be a proud as Punch that I did!  Thank you Joshua for helping this old bird lol! xxx
